At AccessPlus, we are thrilled to partner with Steve Oakes and Tower21 Properties to bring high-speed fiber broadband to their buildings. This collaboration marks a significant milestone, with the first businesses to leverage AccessPlus fiber thriving in the Crawford Square building at 137 North Street in downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
The Start of our Partnership
Steve Oakes’ journey with AccessPlus began when he inherited the AccessPlus connectivity upon purchasing the Shipton Building, also on North Street. The previous property owner had created a partnership with AccessPlus to offer internet solutions as a reseller to AccessPlus. With over 60 tenants in the building, this partnership has proved to be a great fit for the multi-unit commercial property. Today, Steve continues offering AccessPlus with new and existing business tenants.
Driving Technology with Network Expansion at Crawford Square
Our partnership hasn’t stopped there. Crawford Square is now the 1st mult-unit commercial building equipped with AccessPlus high-speed fiber broadband internet. The upgrade was a natural step for Steve Oakes to meet the demands of high-tech tenants who require top-level connectivity. It was a natural step to meet the evolving needs of the tenant community and enhance the building’s appeal.
Oakes’ Active Role in Local Redevelopment
Steve Oakes is not just focused on enhancing building infrastructure but is also deeply involved in local redevelopment efforts. As a member of the economic rebuild board and Downtown Pittsfield Inc., he is part of a collective effort to revitalize Pittsfield. The city, which once saw a population decline, is now on the rebound. With businesses reopening post-COVID, a new mayor, and a renewed sense of optimism, the local business environment is poised for a renaissance.
Pittsfield Balances Urban and Rural Lifestyles
Pittsfield offers a unique blend of urban convenience and rural beauty, with some formerly commercial properties on North Street now being transformed into residential spaces that create a new downtown neighborhood option for residents. The proximity to also be in the Berkshire countryside makes it an attractive location for both residents and businesses. High-speed technology is a crucial component of this evolving lifestyle, ensuring that the community remains connected and competitive.
A Long-Standing Partnership
Our partnership with Steve Oakes and Tower21 Properties has been long-standing, characterized by a personal connection and excellent service. Steve values the relationship, noting the ease of direct communication and the regional focus of AccessPlus. “I have AccessPlus’s number in my contact list,” he says, highlighting the difference from impersonal corporate structures.
Our pioneering partnership with Tower21 Properties is a testament to Steve Oakes’ commitment to innovation, community development, and maintaining high standards of service for his tenants. As Pittsfield continues to grow and evolve, such initiatives will play a crucial role in shaping its future.
